It all started when…

I mapped a cave when I was 13 years old just for fun, during which I developed an obsession with geology (encouraged by my 8th grade earth science teacher), and I started carrying a camera about the same time (guided by my 9th grade biology teacher). My 34 year-long career as a geology professor at Eastern Washington University began in 1984, and now I enjoy Emeritus Professor status in my retirement since December 2018. I miss the students! The rest…not so much.

Since 2009 I have been guiding adventure travel trips across the world for five expedition companies, lecturing in geology, driving Zodiacs, leading hikes and engaging in wildlife photography.

Never stop exploring!
